Subject: My Miracle Baby!
I had my tubal reversal on June 10, 2002. To our surprise, I became pregnant two months later. Sadly, I miscarried at 5 1/2 weeks. When six months had gone by and no pregnancy, I had an HSG performed and was elated that both tubes were open! I became pregnant the following month, but miscarried again. We just chalked it up to bad luck and kept trying. Four months later, another pregnancy and another miscarriage. When my OB didn't think it was necessary to do any testing, I decided it was time to find a new doctor for my next pregnancy. Ten months later, I was pregnant again. I immediately knew something wasn't right. My new OB did the HCG draws and the numbers didn't increase but instead decreased so I was facing miscarriage #4. Two months later, I was pregnant again, and again, facing a miscarriage. My Dr. found that my progesterone was low so she started me on supplements. The following month, I didn't even have a period and was pregnant! I just knew it would work out because I was on progesterone, but, just as before, I had another miscarriage.
For three months, I gave myself progesterone injections. My OB wanted to perform an ultrasound to look at everything. She said I had a fibroid and wanted to take a closer look so we scheduled a hysteroscopy. After the surgery, she said that I didn't have a fibroid, but instead a uterine septum. I went to see a wonderful RE who took his time talking to me and my husband about what we should do. He wanted to check the septum via saline ultrasound to see the severity of it. We had that done the following week and it was severe enough to cause repeat miscarriages. The odd thing is I was born with this problem but yet had three healthy pregnancies many years before. We scheduled surgery for the following month, which was successful. After a two month waiting period and another 3 months of TTC, we became pregnant!
After 4 years and 4 months from my TR, Lauryn Avery was born at 39 weeks 6 days by induction weighing a healthy 7 pounds 12 oz and was 20 inches in length. She is the light of our lives. I would do it all over again! My husband thanks me everyday for not giving up. I'm hoping my story will give some ladies some encouragement.
