Our Testimony..... I've been waiting a year to write this!!!!

During my second C-section I choose to have my tubes tied. I was told by everyone that I had the 'perfect family' - 1 boy and 1 girl. Even though I had always dreamed of having three children I signed my fertility away.

When my husband got deployed in October 2004, we decided to look into our options of trying for another baby. During the deployment my mom and grandma found out they had ovarian cancer and I found out I have the BRCA1 gene which raises my chances of getting breast and ovarian cancer as well. My husband and I realized life is short and we needed to pursue our dreams, which was adding another beautiful member to our family.

After researching and discussing the options with my Ob/Gyn, we decided to go with a tubal reversal. Dr. Berger in Chapel Hill specializes in this type of surgery, so he was/is the best one for the job.

When my husband returned home in January 2006, we scheduled my surgery. On May 19th, 2006 I underwent surgery to repair my tubes. Everything went very smoothly and my fertility was restored. Everyone at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center was great. I couldn't have hoped for a better experience!

On June 21st, 2006 we took a pregnancy test and it was positive! We were so happy that we got 'lucky' the first month trying. The hardest part was waiting to tell everyone. On July 5th, 2006 we had our second ultrasound, at 5 weeks, and found out our little bean was right where she was supposed to be. Once we found out she was in the right spot, we told everyone!

So, after being sterilized for almost three years, we conceived our 'miracle baby'. The pregnancy went well, except for the morning sickness and the normal aches and pains. In October, we found out we were having another little girl.

Then nine months and two days after my reversal surgery, Ella made her way into the world. Now I can say I have 'my perfect family'.

I just wanted to share our journey to complete our family with everyone. Dr. Berger in Chapel Hill is wonderful and he has made our dreams come true.
