It is with great appreciation of the hospitable atmosphere, and careful consideration of every comfort and dignity by a truly kind and gracious staff that I write to you. As I had mentioned on that Saturday morning visit, the reversal surgery with you vs. the one I had about 10 years ago with "Dr. S..." is a study in contrasts!

With "Dr. S...'s" reversal, I awoke from surgery with a blinding light in my face, freezing, but with my belly on fire with so much pain I could hardly catch my breath. I was told to immediately climb down off the table and go into a nearby room to dress myself. The experience was such a rude shock! I was shaking all over as I tried to dress. If I remember correctly, we were given a prescription for the pain upon leaving the surgicenter.

I was in horrific pain so I asked my husband to take me to the motel room before finding a pharmacy to fill the Rx. I thought if I were laying down it wouldn't hurt so bad but laying down didn't help. When he finally returned with the pain killer and I took one, it wasn't long before I began experiencing intense nausea. The only remedy being time, waiting for the drug to run its course.

With Dr. Berger's reversal, I woke up gently with warm blankets on me and my husband talking to me, offering me chipped ice before I even realized my throat was sore! And instead of my belly being "on fire" there was only MINOR discomfort, like pressure from my bladder.

When it was time to put on my clothes, two nurses graciously helped me dress right on the table. I was not rushed into dressing or moving to the recliner nor to leaving for the hotel. Everything was at my pace of comfort. I believe it was the same two nurses who generously offered to drop us by our hotel since they were leaving about the same time. It was a wonderfully gentle experience!!!

The care package sent with us, as well as the medications, were a great comfort. It was so nice to have that little package of jello to eat to settle my stomach when it came time to take my first pills. I only needed to take three pain pills and one of those was for the plane ride home on Sunday.

The ice pack was a great help. The anti-nausea gel proved essential when I came down with a migraine during the week after I returned home. It has now been two weeks and I've healed up quite well. Thank you for Dr. Berger's book, I was able to finish it on the plane ride home. My heart is overflowing with gratefulness and appreciation for all of you!
