I had a positive pregnancy test while on the mission field in Oregon. I had an ultrasound done at 6 weeks to rule out a tubal pregnancy. A sac was shown in the uterus, but nothing else. I had to return for another ultrasound at 7 weeks. Only a sac was visible again. I was told it was a blighted ovum. The midwife (an OB/GYN could not see me soon enough) and the staff at the hospital tried to get me to do an immediate DandC because they were afraid it would pass while we were on the road back home to Missouri. I refused because I would be back in Missouri in a week and wanted my own doctor to take care of it.

I returned to see my doctor on October 8th at 8 weeks expecting to make decisions about a DandC or to let it pass on its own. My doctor took me back to do an ultrasound which I figured was a waste of time. I had been diagnosed already with a blighted ovum and they couldn't be wrong, right??? Well, on the ultrasound we saw the baby and a heartbeat. I couldn't believe it. Those people in Oregon almost killed my baby, that's how I see it.

I had another ultrasound exam at 12 weeks just to ease my mind and it looked wonderful. I am 14 weeks today and doing great.
