"Thanks to the doctor who helped us bring our son into the world."
Posted via email January 18, 2005
Dear Dr. Berger,
We owe a great deal of thanks to you. I'm so glad that you were the doctor who helped us bring our son into the world. Without you, we never would have known the joy of having another child. Our new son has brought happiness to our family in ways we never could have imagined. Thank you again for all that you have done for us.
You might enjoy this newsletter that I sent to family and friends when I announced that we were expecting. Everyone was really surprised to hear that I was pregnant, especially since they all thought we were done having children. In my newsletter, I told them all the wonderful people at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center.
We're Going to Have a Baby!
Surprise! Thought we were done having children, didn't you? Thought three kids were already a lot, didn't you? Well... here comes number four. Due dates for this baby have varied depending on which doctor is making the estimation. We've heard September 17th, then September 26th, and most recently, September 18th.
For those of you who don't know the background, let me briefly fill you in. Russ has always wanted as many children as he could possibly have. He, of course, was limited by the fact that few women exist who want as many children as he does. After our daughter Jessica was born, I really felt that three was enough. She and her older brothers were all about two years apart in age and they kept me quite busy. As they got older, life got even busier as school and sports became more intense. In July 2000, I had a tubal ligation. Russ was very sad but supportive.
A few years passed and I never regretted this decision... until the spring of 2003. Something came over me that I didn't expect. I started yearning for a baby again. Was it because our children were growing up so quickly? I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. I was nervous to approach Russ and decided to explore our options before discussing things with him. I investigated adoption, foster care, in-vitro fertilization, and tubal ligation reversal and took my information to Russ. I was afraid he'd be angry, but he responded very positively and lovingly. We agreed that the tubal ligation reversal was our best chance.
Now don't laugh. I found a doctor on the internet. It wasn't much different from picking an unknown doctor from a list of providers on our insurance plan. I investigated him thoroughly and found that he devised a particular type of tubal ligation reversal that was different from any of the other doctors I had contacted. He claimed to have done more reversals than any doctor in the U.S. I verified that he was accredited on several medical boards, and he had 28 years of fertility experience. His work has even been shown on the Discovery Channel and the Learning Channel. In July 2003, we flew to North Carolina, had the reversal surgery, and flew back the next day. Obviously, my confidence in this doctor paid off. If you'd like to see more about this fascinating surgery, please visit www.tubalreversal.net and meet Dr. Gary Berger.
Thanks again.
