“I had both clips and the triple burn procedure and Dr. Berger was still able to successfully reverse my tubal ligation. We are completely overjoyed.”

I had both clips and the triple burn procedure and Dr. Berger was still able to successfully reverse my tubal ligation. Dr. Berger, you and the staff at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center are wonderful. Everyone was so kind and helpful throughout our entire conception journey. I’ve never seen such caring staff at any medical facility. Looking back now, it’s nothing short of amazing! Then, as we tried for a year and a half to conceive, we found we could call upon your staff with our continued questions.
Our healthy baby girl, Ellen Kate, arrived October 29, 2008 and we are completely overjoyed. Thank you for giving our family a gift like no other…

WOW! You have a gorgeous baby. My husband and I have been together 2 years and I want another baby more than anything in the world. So bad I can feel an ache in my heart when I think about it! Was the recovery after surgery painful? I have had three csection babies and after last had clips and burnt. And how soon did you get pregnant after surgery? And does it make your periods more painful?

I have a question for you concerning your tubal reversal. When you say you say clips is that the little clamps they put on the tubes? And you were still able to have it reversed and get pregnant? I got my tubes tied 2 years ago when my husband and I were divorcing and I’m starting to regret it and would love any info you could give about the procedure….cost, what procedure entails, and what the chances are like for a successful pregnancy. Thank You!

Tubal clips are the same thing as clamps (the common term used). Here is a video that shows the Hulka clip after tubal reversal. Read through the website for complete information about tubal ligation reversal. These additional links are to videos about cost of tubal reversal, what the tubal reversal procedure entails, and a link to our Pregnancy Statistics showing the chances for a successful pregnancy after tubal ligation reversal.

When doing a tubal reversal, does it matter how many years it has been since the tubal itself? My OBGyN told me that when I asked him about a reversal before, he said that if I didn’t have any problems conceiving and carrying my babies to term (which I had no problems with either one) he recommended IVF since the chances of a reversal were slim, if not dangerous due to tubal pregnancies. Is this true? What would you recommend with cost and all?

In general most women find success with tubal reversal. Our average pregnancy success rate is 70% and IVF is 35% per each try.
Tubal reversal is far cheaper than IVF. Currently a single cycle of IVF costs between $9,000-$12,000.
With IVF there is a risk of multiple gestation and with tubal reversal there is a risk of ectopic. We advise our patients to follow our early pregnancy protocol to minimize the risk of ectopic.

It excites me to read this successful stories. I am 37 and had my tubes tied @ 29. I have 2 boys (17 & 8) about to be remarried and would love nothing more than to have a little miracle in our lives to make it all complete. I am seriously contemplating this procedure. I am scared though because I have Type II Diabetes. Would that create a big risk in getting pregnant again at such a late age?
December 17th, 2009 at 7:19 pm
MELI – As long as your diabetes is well controlled, it should not pose a significant risk in pregnancy. We don’t consider 37 to be “such a late age” – the average age of our tubal reversal patients is 34.

I have been looking into having my tubes reversed; however the doctor that did it says they can’t be reversed because they are cauterized and burned. Is it possible? Do we even have a chance or is he just being resistant?

Many people have the mistaken concept that tubes can not be reversed if they have been coagulated (burned). Although it is true if tubes have been extensively burned then they may not be repairable, most coagulation procedures are not that extensive.
You can call (919) 968-4656 for a nurse consultation and you are welcome to send us your operative report and we can give you a better idea about your chances of becoming pregnant after a tubal coagulation reversal procedure.
